DCA invites you to a Diversity Leadership Briefing on the economic crisis and employees mental health
Every week, headlines announce unwelcome news of job losses around the nation. Retrenchment can put people at risk of developing mental health problems - but what effect is the current financial crisis having on people who are currently employed?
Every year more than three million people in Australia experience depression, anxiety or related substance use disorder. Half a million full working days are lost every month and workers' productivity is decreased on another one million days per month due to depression.
To equip Diversity Council Australia members for what's a real workplace issue at the moment, we are delighted to invite you to attend a briefing on the important issue of depression and anxiety in the workplace, hosted by Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney.
This briefing on the economic crisis and employee’s mental health will give you valuable insight into the important issue of depression in the workplace including:
- Does the current economic climate impact on employees' mental health?
- The latest statistics regarding rates of depression and anxiety in the community
- Information on the signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety
- What is the impact of depression and anxiety in the workplace?
- What can we do about it?
This briefing will be presented by Therese Fitzpatrick, Program Manager, beyondblue National Workplace Program and facilitated by Nareen Young, DCA's CEO.
