DCA invites you to a diversity leadership briefing on leveraging Aboriginal talent

Leveraging Aboriginal talent: Measuring progress beyond the rhetoric

Since the Australian Government's historic apology to the Stolen Generations in 2008, efforts to improve opportunities for Aboriginal Australians have taken on a new life. How much progress has been made on the employment front?

Diversity Council Australia's research in partnership with NAB, found that while employers are increasingly embracing specifically targeted Indigenous employment programs, much more could be done to better attract, and in particular engage, retain and promote Aboriginal talent.

Hosted by Gilbert + Tobin, DCA is pleased to invite you to a Diversity Leadership Briefing on leveraging Aboriginal talent. At this briefing you will discover key findings from DCA's research and hear the latest on Aboriginal employment including:

  • How employers can better engage with Aboriginal communities
  • Different ways to attract Indigenous employees
  • What internal organisational changes can be made to effectively engage, retain and promote Indigenous staff
  • A panel discussion to explore issues and different approaches.

DCA's CEO Nareen Young will facilitate the event and key participants include:

  • Lani Blanco-Francis, LBF Consulting Pty Ltd. Lani is Founder and CEO of LBF Consulting, an Indigenous community capacity building, employment and training specialist. She is the inaugural winner and proud recipient of the Neville Bonner Award for 'Most outstanding person to influence Indigenous Employment and Program initiatives in 2002’.
  • David Liddiard, Dare to Lead for Business. David heads up DTL4B which provides practical support to corporates with workplace participation strategies for Indigenous talent. Following his successful career as a NRL player, he established the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy which provides real opportunities for Indigenous youth in sport and education.
