Review of EOWA and state of play for women at work

Most of us are aware that the Australian Government is undertaking a review of the effectiveness of the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act and Agency (EOWA). DCA consulted with its members and a number of prominent expert contributors and has developed a major submission to the review on their behalf in October.

Hosted by ANZ, DCA is pleased to invite you to a Diversity Leadership Briefing to explore the EOWA review and its potential impact on gender equality in Australia's workplaces. This is the premier event on the review, the outcome of which is crucial to Australia's growth, productivity and trade agenda. At the briefing you will gain insight into:
  • The state of play right now for women
  • What needs to change to progress gender equality
  • The EOWA review process and what it has uncovered so far
  • DCA's submission to the review
  • Next steps.
Leading experts in the field and in the review process will provide their views on the topic and participate in a lively panel discussion:
  • Sally Moyle - Women's Branch Manager at the Australian Government Office for Women who is overseeing the EOWA review. Prior to this, Sally was the Gender Adviser for AusAID, Australia's aid agency and was the Director of the Sex Discrimination Unit in the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
  • Anne Summers - writer, journalist, author and pre-eminent thought leader on gender equality in Australia, she ran the federal Office of the Status of Women from 1983 to 1986 when Bob Hawke was Prime Minister (and was crucially involved in the formulation and passage through Parliament of the very first version of the Act), and was an advisor on women’s issue to Prime Minister Paul Keating.
  • Nancy Wong - ANZ's General Manager Strategy, Asia Pacific who has significant experience developing and executing corporate strategy in Asian markets. Most recently Nancy was Chief Operating Officer, Taiwan with Standard Chartered Bank and she also held senior investment banking roles with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong.
  • Nareen Young, DCA's CEO - a leading strategic diversity practitioner and thinker, women's employment market participation expert and former director of the NSW Working Women's Centre.
