Embracing a multi-faith workforce
Alongside cultural and linguistic diversity, religious diversity in Australia is growing. Australian workplaces today increasingly encounter new faith-related situations and issues. In responding to these we need to respect a range of faith-related beliefs and practices, while also ensuring business operations are productive and harmonious. Examples of such situations include:
- A Christian employee asks you if there's a room they could use during lunchtime for Bible study
- A Jewish project manager needs time off for the High Holidays
- A manager is distressed because a Muslim employee refuses to work the afternoon shift during Ramadan
- A colleague comes to you asking whether the turban worn by your valuable Sikh computer specialist breaches your organisational dress code.
By popular demand, DCA is pleased to invite you to our second Diversity Leadership Briefing on embracing a multi-faith workforce, this time in Canberra.
Kindly hosted by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the briefing will explore:
