In Conversation with Sex Discrimination Commissioner Dr Anna Cody

Australia has made good progress towards achieving gender equality in recent times, however, women still experience inequality and discrimination in many important parts of their lives.

At work, women continue to face a gender ‘pay gap’ and barriers to leadership roles and many encounter reduced employment opportunities because of the time they give to family and caring responsibilities.

Sexual harassment and gender-based violence also threaten women’s basic right to feel safe and respected at work, in public, in places of study and at home. And women with disability, First Nations women, CARM women, and LGBTIQ+ people are disproportionately impacted by inequality, discrimination, pay disparity, and barriers to leadership.

This DCA Gender Equality Network was presented in partnership with KPMG,  where DCA CEO Lisa Annese (she/her) brought about conversation with Sex Discrimination Commissioner Dr Anna Cody (she/her) to discuss her goals, priorities and focus areas, including approaching gender, sex and LGBTQI+ issues with an intersectional lens.

We also heard from KPMG Australia, National Managing Partner for People & Inclusion, Dorothy Hisgrove (she/her).
