Refugee inclusion and a values-driven culture – Ikea Australia

""

IKEA Group Global CEO, Jesper Brodin, left the world’s first Global Refugee Forum in 2019 with a commitment: every IKEA market in each country of operation would develop a Skills for Employment Program. One that would nurture and support refugees and asylum seekers into the local work market.

In Australia, the eight-week paid placement is well on its way to achieving its goal of supporting 180 Australian refugees and asylum seekers by mid-2023.

Using DCA’s Change at Work model – which is an evidence-based framework for doing D&I that works – we present a case study on how IKEA Australia’s Skills for Employment program positioned them as unrivalled leaders in sustainability and created a values-driven culture that proves doing good is good for business.
